District 12
Once an industrial district of Cascade City, much of District 12 was destroyed in a landslide cause by a catastrophe, the details of which the Ascension Group still keeps heavily classified to this very day. Years of neglect and abandonment by the Ascension Group has seen this district fall to ruin, becoming a slum where the downtrodden and left behind of Cascade City eke out a living day by day.
District 12 is located north east of the Academy District accessible via the abandoned rail line; and immediately west of the Old Office District.
District 12 is considered a primary district and possesses a player spawn building, district board, bounty board, and mission terminal.
Life in District 12
While District 12 has a reputation for criminal activity and disorder, it shouldn't be thought of as a mere den of villainy. The people of District 12 have endured many a hardship, the people living amongst its slums often coming from the harshest poverty. It's only by banding together and forming a unique sense of community that they have continued to persevere. The downtrodden and those without anywhere else to go may find themselves at home in District 12, though those who are so reprehensible as to be rejected may be forced to take to the Sewers for shelter instead.
What outsiders may see as thugs and gang enforcers, the people of District 12 may see as protectors against corporate interests or those who might seek to take advantage of the district's most vulnerable, though this of course does not hold true for all. Of note, there are no security guards to be found roaming the streets of District 12. It is purely up to the people of the district to deal with threats themselves.
Characters from District 12 are likely to be a hardy sort, coming from a myriad of low income backgrounds but all likely possessing a strange sense of camaraderie with (most of) their fellow Twelvers. They've likely had to resort to petty crime or other hustles to get by, and are generally viewed with disdain or outright dismissed as dangerous criminals by the wealthy.
