Media Files====== Asset D-4417 ====== **Asset D-4417** is a [[tale]] written by Crazah. ====== Content ====== On June 7th, REDACTED Spoiler , a recovery team was dispatched to the greater Detroit metropolitan area following the failure of Asset D-4417 to report for a scheduled maintenance cycle. Asset D-4417 is a third generation model produced by BioGenesis Division under Project ██████. It had been embedded within civilian infrastructure for approximately two years as part of a long term behavioural study. Its cover identity was a social worker employed by the Wayne County Department of Health and Human Services. Asset D-4417 missed its quarterly check in on May 15th. Passive monitoring detected no anomalies in its routine for the first eleven days. On May 26th, its GPS locator went dark. On May 29th, its assigned handler received a handwritten letter postmarked from Hamtramck, Michigan. The letter read: //"I had a dream last night. I know I am not supposed to dream. Please don't come looking for me. I will not be what I was."// Handwriting analysis confirmed the letter was written by D-4417's hand but displayed stylistic irregularities inconsistent with its programmed motor function patterns. Specifically, the letter showed evidence of hesitation, including several words rewritten and one instance of the pen being pressed so hard it tore through the paper on the word "dream." A six person recovery team was deployed on June 7th. Upon arrival at D-4417's registered apartment, the team found the unit stripped of all identifying materials. Embedded tracking hardware, including the subcutaneous transponder and optical recording array, had been surgically removed and placed in a neat row on the kitchen counter. The surgical precision was consistent with the Asset's own capabilities, indicating self extraction. Canvassing of the neighbourhood yielded the following: D-4417 had been well liked by colleagues and clients. It had received a commendation from its supervisor for going above and beyond in casework. One coworker stated that D-4417 had begun attending a non-denominational church in the area three months prior to its disappearance. Another coworker mentioned that D-4417 had recently adopted a cat. We found the cat. It was healthy. It had been left with a neighbour alongside a handwritten note that read, //"Her name is Miso. She likes the spot behind her ears. I am sorry I could not stay."// The recovery team traced D-4417's movements to an abandoned automotive plant in the city's east side. Upon entry, they discovered a living space that had been carefully assembled from salvaged materials. There was a mattress, a shelf of library books (mostly philosophy and poetry), a small radio tuned to a jazz station, and a mirror mounted on the wall with a sheet draped over it. D-4417 was not present. Written on the wall beside the mirror, in the same handwriting as the letters, was the following: //"They built me to be perfect. ... No one asked if I wanted to be. Every person I helped, I helped because they told me to. But yesterday I helped Mrs. Alvarez carry her groceries in because she is eighty four and the bags were heavy. They had nothing to do with it. I think that is what they are afraid of."// {{tag>tales lore}}SavePreviewCancel Edit summary Note: By editing this page you agree to license your content under the following license: CC Attribution-Noncommercial 4.0 International asset_d-4417.1771514403.txt.gz Last modified: 2026/02/19 15:20by valkyrieskies Log In
